From more than two thousand years, in our region there’s a river whose sands are rich in gold. This weekend offers the possibility of getting “infected” by the gold fever; with the assistance of expert goldpanners you’ll search (and find) the precious metal in the sand of the river Elvo and you’ll visit Bessa park a great open air goldmine dating back from the Roman Empire.

Day 1:
meeting with the goldpanners who will teach you the basics of this old technique and will show you, in the Gold Museum in Vermogno, the history and the instruments used throughout centuries. Barbecue in the pic-nic area of the Bessa park and visit (on foot or with mountain-bike) of the park, looking for traces of the ancient Victimuli, the population who was digging out gold for the Romans. Transfer to Biella and time available for the visit of the old city (Biella Piazzo), connected with the rest of the city by a pictoresque funicular, more than one hundred years old. Dinner and overnigth stay in an hotel in Biella.

Day 2: the entire morning will be dedicated to goldpanning activities along the river Elvo not too far from the Bessa park. Transfer to Candelo having lunch in a typical restaurant and meeting with the guide for the visit of the Ricetto. Time available for some walks in the park of Baraggia, a few miles from Candelo, one of the last prairies left in Italy.
